Public Enemy | Crosshairs

Oh my word.  How to describe the influence this group had on the life and times of a young woman growing up in a grim northern England town.  To me Public Enemy were the last great ‘punk’ band of the 20th century.  I first heard Nation Of Millions in a club in Manchester in 1988,  underage and nervous in the big city, and the dj went and played that album all the way through in full, so excited and reverential of what he had on that deck.  I absorbed every beat and sample, every word an education, was utterly blown away by their energy, the sheer force of this album, the intelligence and eloquence of what this group had to say, and just how skillfully they crafted that message.
